InXpo Unveils Industry-First Twitter Integration for Enhanced Virtual Events' Experience

New integration complements the InXpo Virtual Event Platform’s social networking capabilities

CHICAGO, IL – May 28, 2009InXpo, the leading provider of privately-branded virtual events that deliver real results, today unveiled an industry-first: integration with Twitter to seamlessly send status updates directly from within a virtual event environment. Combined with the company’s extensive social networking capabilities, the InXpo Virtual Event Platform 7.6 enables organizations to connect, educate and engage their audiences worldwide for an enhanced virtual events' experience.

“InXpo has a strong commitment to assist clients with their event marketing by integrating with today’s social media tools like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Twitter, for example, has become a very powerful tool for back-channel communications at physical events, and it allows people to promote specific event activities while they are happening, by tweeting opinions and information real-time from that event,” stated Malcolm Lotzof, CEO and co-founder of InXpo. “This becomes even more powerful at a virtual event in that the recipients of the tweet can instantaneously react and attend the event, from anywhere in the world, while it’s happening because a peer told them to, so they should. Now that's a very powerful value proposition.”

InXpo Supports Twitter: Extending the Conversation from Virtual Events to the Twitter Community
Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging platform that enables users to send updates of 140 characters or less to a broader community. With Twitter, the dynamics of an event have changed as audience members can participate in a conversation with presenters, exhibitors and other virtual event attendees, as well as Twitter’s ten million users. InXpo’s Virtual Event Platform integration with Twitter gives event organizers, publishers and corporations an easy way to extend a conversation from a virtual event to their community on Twitter, including:

  • Twitter Updates:  Attendees can opt to send out a message or “tweets” from the virtual event environment to Twitter, which encourages social networking and conversations within and outside of the virtual event.
  • Event Promotion: Automatically insert the show hashtag with each tweet, increasing the word-of-mouth for the event and driving new audiences to the virtual event in real-time.
  • Word-of-Mouth Tracking:  With InXpo's rich data reporting backend and metrics, show organizers will be able to track the number of tweets originating from a virtual event. This includes the ability to track the number of updates with embedded event URLs, the number of visitors generated from the tweets, and the number of conversions to registered users.

InXpo’s Social Networking Capabilities: Connect, Educate and Engage Audiences
An integral part of a virtual event is the ability for organizations to connect, educate and engage their audiences. The InXpo Virtual Event Platform incorporates several social networking features to facilitate these interactions, such as:

  • Profile Matching: To facilitate networking within the virtual event environment, the InXpo Virtual Event Platform visually recommends sponsors, exhibitors or peers based on an individual’s profile information such as background, interests, and title. “Matches” placed closer to an individual represent higher relevancy than those placed further away.
  • Text or Video One-to-One Chat: One-to-one chats enable attendees to connect and engage with others on a personal level. In addition to text-based chats, attendees also have the option to use a webcam for one-to-one video chat which provides a more engaging experience.
  • Connectivity to Social Networking Sites: Social networking sites facilitate online connections and professional networking. InXpo has the ability to connect to social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter from a virtual event, enabling organizations to further build out their community for new business opportunities.
